extracting email with attachment and keep each together

I have this bunch of emails given to me from the Google Vault. I received this large Mbox file which I can convert to pdfs with the attachment embedded in the email messages. I see there is a process to take the embedded email attachments out of the emails pdfs. However, I don't see a way to extract the attachments and keep the pdf and attachment in listing order so that I know which attachment came from which email.

Should I look for another software which can extract the attachments from the email pdf and keep the email pdf and the attachments together?

  • Hi Al,

    Thank you for your question.

Your specific request of extracting the attachments, converting the mail to PDF and having the PDF and attachment in listing order is currently not available in the set options that we offer in Aid4Mail.

However, you can use "Extract email attachments" as your Target Format. Aid4Mail will then extract the attachments and create an Attach.tab file in the target folder that establishes the link between the attachment file and its email. The attachment file date stamp, subject line and message ID will match the corresponding email. What may not be ideal for you is that when you use the "Extract email attachments" option for your target format, it converts the mail related to the extracted email attachments to EML format and not PDF.

Aid4Mail does offer extensive scripting options though, and you would be able to create a script that exports the email to PDF instead of EML, should you want to do this. If you search "script" in the Aid4Mail help file, you will be able to find more information about this.

If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please raise a ticket.

    Hope this helps,

    Josh
