Program crashes when the target format is a PST file or MAPI

After a June 1st Outlook update (version 1704, build 8067.2157), we found that Outlook has an issue that crashes Aid4Mail when migrating or converting to a PST file.

A discussion on Microsoft Technet about the issue can be found here.

If you have the 32-bit version of Outlook installed, updating to the latest version of Aid4Mail (v4.51 or later) should resolve this issue. Learn how to update to the latest version of Aid4Mail here.

If you prefer not to update your Aid4Mail installation, there is also a manual setting you can change:

  1. Click on "Software" in Aid4Mail
  2. Click on "Advanced Options"
  3. Uncheck "Use MAPI RFC 1521 Converter"
  4. Try the conversion again

If the above option does not work, or you have Outlook 64-bit installed, we advise you to revert back to this version of Outlook: Version 1703 (Build 7967.2161)

You can either do this manually (instructions below) or by downloading the latest version of Aid4Mail and following the prompts shown to you before you do a migration or conversion to or from Outlook 2016.

To do this manually, please follow these instructions

  1. Close Outlook
  2. Download the file attached to this article
  3. Open Windows Finder
  4. Double-click on the file to run the CMD batch file
  5. Open Outlook (a restart may be required)
