Aid4Mail 4 freezes during processing and the title bar shows (Not Responding). Is this a bug?

Probably not. Aid4Mail 4 may appear to hang when it is trying to connect to a remote server (IMAP account) or processing a very big email (typically a message with one or more huge attachments). Depending on your processor speed, amount of available RAM, and source or target format (for example Outlook), such a message may take as long as several hours to process.

If you encounter this situation, don’t assume Aid4Mail has stopped working. Instead of terminating the process, simply give it enough time to finish its job.

If you are converting mail to PDF format, this can also cause issues if you are trying to convert many mails into one PDF. In this case, it's a better idea to select either "One PDF per mail folder" or if that is still taking too long, "One PDF per email".
